Today in Gatineau, Quebec, the CISC joined Steven MacKinnon, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement, and the Honourable Judy A. Sgro, Chair of the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, alongside other members of the construction industry, to discuss the development of federal prompt payment legislation.
During today’s roundtable, industry stakeholders examined the current state of delayed payment in the construction industry and initiated the conversation on how to establish an effective federal legislative solution to this ongoing issue.
The federal government has acquired the help of Bruce Reynolds and Sharon Vogul, the leading consultants in the successful implementation of Ontario’s Bill 142. They are seeking out industry recommendations to ensure legislation will support the timely flow of payments from contractors to subcontractors who work on federal government projects.
This is another great step forward for the Canadian steel construction industry!
