The CISC is the resource for framing solutions and technical information on designing steel buildings, bridges and platework in Canada.
In the last fiscal year (ending April 2019), we responded to approximately 350 unique queries and requests from engineers, engineers in training (EIT), architects, fabricators and other industry stakeholders. We provided technical assistance on a wide range of structural design projects to ensure accuracy of steel use while promoting the advantages of steel.
Through numerous platforms, we’re providing Canadian steel construction professionals from across the country with around the clock access to resources that help solve the most complex design and construction issues. In this past year, we have developed four new design aids through CISC’s Design Modules and the Steel Design Series, published over 10 new Steel Knowledge Blog posts covering a range of industry topics, provided three major updates to our Codes & Standards listing, and launched two new online webinar courses. Meanwhile, we continue to restock our publication library, maintain our FAQ forum and answer direct inquiries, as well as develop new technical resources based on the needs of the industry.
The CISC is committed to fostering the development and sharing of knowledge and best practices in the steel construction industry through our various resources. We will continue to provide the leading technical resource catalogue in all of Canada to further develop and promote the use of steel in construction.
