Project Description
Building ONE was originally an addition built on an existing building on the Breithaupt Block, and the addition was constructed circa 1954. The structure consists of a basement with poured concrete foundation walls, 2 floors of steel structure above with reinforced concrete slabs, and a structural steel roof with a reinforced concrete slab. The building was originally used for industrial manufacturing which was home to companies such as Dominion Rubber Co Ltd, Uniroyal Ltd, and Collins & Aikman Corp over its 60 lifetime. In 2007, Collins and Aikman Corp sold the building to International Automotive Component Group North America. IAC announced shut down of the plant in 2008 and the building sat vacant for approximately 6 years. Perimeter Development Group and Allied REIT took ownership in 2009 and the vision of sustainability and rehabilitation began. Instead of tearing down the existing structure and re-building, the Owners saw benefit and opportunity to salvage the existing structure while adding 4 new floors of useful space above. The final end use of the new development is high end office space with Google being the current tenant.
