On February 9, CISC Alberta hosted tours of two fabrication shops with Hon. Shaye Anderson, Minister of Alberta Municipal Affairs and MLA for Leduc-Beaumont, in Niksu Industrial Park.
In efforts to provide insight into the significance of the steel construction industry in Alberta, WF Steel & Crane and Super Metal opened their doors to showcase two distinctive fabrication operations. Anderson displayed a strong interest in the level of automation of these facilities, their production capacity and the sophistication of their operations.
CISC Alberta intends to provide additional tours for the Minister of Alberta Municipal Affairs in order to continue to spotlight the steel construction industry, as well as advocacy issues including prompt payment. Alberta has yet to implement provincial prompt payment legislation, however it is still under consideration by the provincial government.
