It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Leo De Meo, a deeply respected leader and valued member of our community.

Before becoming the General Manager of ArcelorMittal Global Research & Development in Hamilton in 2016, Leo had a longstanding and impactful relationship with the CSSBI and many of its member companies. As an active member of the Lightweight Steel Framing (LSF) Committee, he played a critical role in advancing research and promoting LSF in residential construction. His work was instrumental in driving key National Building Code changes related to cold-formed steel construction, benefiting the Canadian steel construction industry for years to come.

Leo retired this past July after 36 years of dedicated service at ArcelorMittal, where he began his journey with ArcelorMittal Dofasco before leading Global Research & Development as General Manager for eight years. His leadership was marked by a commitment to excellence, a dedication to creating a collaborative and inspiring work environment, and the ability to instill values that continue to guide the organization today.

Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and the team at Global R&D Hamilton during this difficult time.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 11, at Glen Oaks Funeral Home in Oakville, followed by a funeral service on Thursday, December 12, at St. Matthew Parish in Oakville. More details are available in his obituary: Leo De Meo | Obituary | Sharing Memories.
