CISC Manager of Technical Publications and Services, Charles Albert M.Sc.E., P.Eng., Retires After 31 Years in the Steel Industry!
As of Thursday June 30th, 2022, and after 31 years of dedicated service, Charles Albert will be taking his retirement.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Université de Moncton (1985) and master’s degree from the University of New Brunswick (1988), Charles Albert began his career as a research associate at the University of Alberta, where he was involved in testing and numerical modelling of steel beams in cantilever-suspended-span construction.
Employed at the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction since 1991, Charles rose to the position of Manager of Technical Publications responsible for the development of all current CISC technical publications and guides including the CISC Handbook of Steel Construction. He authored and developed many CISC courses, guides, publications, and software on the design of steel buildings, bridges, connections, and seismic design. Charles provided ongoing guidance to the steel industry fielding countless questions in the Solution Centre Help Desk and for years has been the expert staff columnist for the Engineering Corner in Advantage Steel.
The CISC team, our Members and Associates and the steel construction industry at large, immensely appreciate Charles’s contributions; he has left a legacy with his commitment and tenacity and for which he will always be remembered.
