The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta, along with founding members the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction, Collins Steel, Supreme Steel, Waiward Steel, DIALOG, TSE Steel, and Price Steel, are pleased to announce the launch of the CISC Centre for Steel Structures Education and Research.

The Centre will be dedicated to steel structures research, education, and innovation so that the steel construction industry has the skilled workforce, technologies, and processes needed to compete successfully in a rapidly-changing global marketplace.

Since Alberta constitutes a major steel fabrication technology cluster that is arguably the largest and most advanced in the country, and the University of Alberta has a long-standing world-wide reputation as a leader in steel structures research and education, it is a natural fit for the creation of an integrated “hub” focused on the development, growth, and long-term sustainability of the Alberta steel construction industry.

The CISC is very excited to be part of this new approach to industry / academic collaboration. The CISC Steel Centre has great potential to be a transformation force in the steel construction industry in Canada.
