This new edition supersedes the first edition published in 2004 and based on FEMA 350, "Recommended Seismic Design Criteria for New Steel Moment Frame Buildings". Completely revised and expanded to include reduced beam section, bolted unstiffened and stiffened end-plate, and bolted flange plate moment connections, the second edition presents design provisions comparable to those governing the design of generic beam-to-column connections in ANSI/AISC 358, "Prequalified Connections for Special and Intermediate Steel Moment Frames for Seismic Applications".
Intended to be used in conjunction with CSA Standard S16-14 and the National Building Code of Canada 2015, this publication covers common connection types for ductile, moderately ductile and limited ductility moment-resisting frames. It provides design, detailing and fabrication criteria for moment connections as permitted by S16-14 Clause 27 as an alternative to physical testing.
