BC Student Co-op Program

The Canadian Institute of Steel Construction’s BC Region Fabricator Engineering Program formally integrates a University of British Columbia (UBC) student’s academic studies with work experience in co-operative employer organizations. Thanks to the support of the steel industry, prospective engineering students are offered a chance to work with the various aspects of engineering within a fabrication and consultant setting, before graduation.

The engineering co-op program integrates a four month work-term within the regular four year engineering program, whereby students split the term working with both a fabricator and structural engineering consultant. This program allows students to obtain knowledge and experience of the industry, which will assist them with planning their future careers. The program also gives employers a chance to recruit students prior to their graduation.
